(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) wrote Assembly Joint Resolution 15 to send a message to Trump – don’t mess with our country’s national monuments. AJR 15 urges the President “to protect federal public lands…and to honor and protect the integrity of all national monuments as they have been designated by Presidents since 1906.” Trump has described the national monument designations as a “massive federal land grab” and ordered the Interior Department to review and reverse some of them. “America’s protected federal public lands are a national treasure that belong to all Americans,” said Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry. “These monuments help protect cultural, historical and Native American sacred sites, they keep our water and air clean and they create jobs and stimulate local tourism.”
