(Sacramento) – For Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) breast cancer is personal. As she introduced her House Resolution 61 declaring October as Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention Month, she shared stories about her mother and a local survivor. “I am passionate about this issue because my Mother passed away from breast cancer,” a tearful Aguiar-Curry said. “Research shows that the earlier breast cancer is detected, the better chances of successful treatment. I want to encourage every one of you that are in here, or have a loved one, to make sure they give themselves the best birthday present they can - is to have a breast examination.”
