(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters), legislative colleagues, and Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones announced a legislative package to address property insurance issues facing the victims of the devastating fires that recently tore through California. One key measure of this package is Assembly Bill 1772, authored by Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry. AB 1772 extends the amount of time from 2 to 3 years that a home or business owner has to rebuild their insured property and receive the full replacement costs they are entitled to after a declared emergency. “It breaks my heart to think about the magnitude of loss families across California are experiencing due to the fires,” said Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry. “ It will take them years to pick up the pieces. AB 1772 will give Californians more time to access coverage they’ve already paid for.” To see all of Aguiar-Curry’s comments, please watch this Assembly Access Video.
