State Assembly member Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) announced Wednesday the governor’s signing of her comprehensive legislation to legalize and regulate hemp cannabinoids, or CBD, in California.

That legislation, Assembly Bill 45, allows CBD derived from hemp to be produced and sold in the state once it meets rigorous testing and regulatory requirements, established in the bill.

An urgency measure that received bipartisan support in the Legislature, AB 45 goes into effect immediately.

The California State Assembly Public Safety Committee passed a bill that would grant Yolo County the ability to build a secure drug treatment facility for people involved in the criminal justice system who also suffer from substance use disorders.

AB 1542, named “Hope Yolo,” was written by Assemblyman Kevin McCarty along with Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig and Yolo County Supervisor Gary Sandy. It was co-authored by State Sen. Bill Dodd and Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – On Wednesday, special districts throughout California recognized Representative John Garamendi (D-Walnut Grove) and Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) as their Legislators of the Year at a virtual event.

This is the first year that the California Special Districts Association, or CSDA, has chosen to recognize both a state and federal lawmaker with this distinction.

A pair of politicians who represent Solano County have been named Legislators of the Year by the California Special Districts Association (CSDA).

Rep. John Garamendi and Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, both Democrats whose districts include portions of Solano County, were recognized for their work supporting special districts in California over a special Zoom event. Special districts are local government agencies created by the people to provide essential services such as water, sanitation, fire protection, parks and more.

A new law proposed by a Yolo County assembly member would provide the Human Papillomavirus vaccine to those enrolled in the California Family Planning, Action, Care and Treatment Program.

The Family PACT Program covers all residents of a state who are of childbearing age or those who are able to get someone pregnant. Enrollees must also be below 200% of the federal poverty line.

For a family of three, 200% of the poverty line would be an annual income of $43,440. There are an estimated 1.1 million Californians registered in the program.

SACRAMENTO — Assembly members Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) and Eloise Reyes (D- San Bernardino) introduced Assembly Bill 3133 and Assembly Bill 3134 on Friday, together on the floor of the State Assembly to show their partnership in the fight to protect, support and welcome refugees in California. The United States has a long tradition of offering refuge to those fleeing violence, conflict or instability and California has actively received newly arrived refugees since 1980.

Two bills revolving around Alzheimer’s disease were introduced to the Assembly on Monday with the hope of helping patients find out if they have the disease early and what more they can do about it.

SACRAMENTO — Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) introduced Assembly Bill 1965 on Tuesday, to require that the State Family Planning, Access, Care, and Treatment (Family PACT) Program cover the costs of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.

Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, D-Winters, has been honored with a national Pacesetter Award from the Women’s Legislators’ Lobby  for authoring and successfully enacting AJR 30 in 2018, a joint resolution calling on the Congress to pass legislation requiring a vote of Congress before the U.S. president can be the first to use nuclear weapons in a military conflict.
