Aguiar-Curry introduces bill to ensure wildfire victims have the time, money needed to rebuild

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) and Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Healdsburg) introduced AB 1772 on Thursday, giving wildfire victims an additional year to rebuild their homes and businesses after a catastrophic wildfire and collect the full amount of insurance dollars to which they are entitled.

Extending the time a policy holder has to recoup their losses after a devastating fire will prevent battles with insurance companies and bring families greater peace of mind.

Governor signs Aguiar-Curry protestion bill

Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry’s bill, AB 1636, was signed into law by Governor Brown last week.

The consumer protection measure will increase accountability of “Payday Lenders” in California through strengthening the tools Department of Business Oversight (DBO) uses to oversee, regulate, and review lenders’ reports.

Governor signs Aguiar-Curry’s tax liability bill

SACRAMENTO — On Monday, Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law a bill by Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, D-Winters, to extend the state of California’s authority to operate the “Offer in Compromise” program. In the event a business owner can’t afford to pay an unanticipated tax liability, this program allows the taxpayer to pay the maximum amount feasible — a compromised offer — and continue to stay in business.

Aguiar-Curry waste management bill signed by governor

Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law Assembly Bill 1572, authored by Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, D-Solano.

This bill gives the California Department of Resources and Recycling Recovery (CalRecycle) greater flexibility in ensuring locals comply with sustainable waste management law while reducing burdens associated with oversight for areas that exceed state requirements.

Aguiar-Curry’s first bill signed by governor benefits local growers

A bill authored by Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, D-Solano, was signed in to law by Gov. Jerry Brown.

Assembly Bill 768 makes the Direct Marketing Program operated by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) permanent. The program empowers the state’s farmers to sell their produce and products directly to customers at Certified Farmers’ Markets without being required to follow the same packing and labeling requirements as products in grocery stores.

Aguiar-Curry supports cap-and-trade extension

Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, D-Winters, voted in favor of landmark legislation Monday to extend California’s cap-and-trade program. The package includes AB 398 by Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia, D-Coachella; AB 617 by Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia, D-Bell Gardens; and ACA 1 by Assembly Republican Leader Chad Mayes, R-Yucca Valley.

Aguiar-Curry and Dodd Lead Charge to Protect California’s National Monuments

(From Press Release) – Assembly Joint Resolution 15, a bill expressing the support of the California State Legislature to continue protecting national monuments, passed out of the State Assembly on a  bipartisan vote of 56-16. The measure was introduced by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D – Winters) last week in response to the announcement of a federal review of national monuments, and was originally coauthored by Assemblymember Jim Wood (D – Santa Rosa), and Senators Bill Dodd (D – Napa) and Mike McGuire (D – Healdsburg).

Aguiar-Curry honors Judge David Rosenberg for Assembly Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry on Monday honored Judge David Rosenberg at the California State Assembly annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony.

Judge Rosenberg is the son of Holocaust survivors Fay and Harry Rosenberg.

“It was a privilege to have Judge Rosenberg at the Capitol to honor him and his parents,” said Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters), whose district includes Lake County.

Aguiar-Curry introduces bill to ‘Make Clear Lake Clear,’ establish blue ribbon committee

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – A bill to create a blue ribbon committee to study Clear Lake and develop a plan to protect and improve its conditions passed unanimously out of the Assembly’s Natural Resources Committee this week.

Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters), who represents Lake County in the Assembly, introduced AB 707.

The bill establishes a blue ribbon committee for the study of potential threats to Clear Lake water quality and will develop and monitor any necessary plan to assure the lake’s health.

Aguiar-Curry to examine wine industry issues in the Assembly

SACRAMENTO — For the third year running, a representative of Napa will again lead efforts in the state Assembly to study issues affecting the California wine industry.

With her appointment this month as chair of the Assembly Select Committee on Wine, Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, D-Winters, will be at the forefront of identifying and examining issues that affect the wine industry in Napa and the state. In her new role, Aguiar-Curry succeeds former 4th District Assemblymember and current state Senator Bill Dodd, D-Napa, the committee’s previous chair.
