LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – State Sen. Mike McGuire and Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry have been working with county officials to ensure rural Californians are not left behind in coronavirus testing deserts as the state boosts the number of testing sites.

Currently, there are over 700,000 Californians who still aren’t within an hour’s drive of a testing site after a commitment was made by the state that all Californians will be within a one hour drive of a site. This is unacceptable to both the Assembly member and senator.

SACRAMENTO – This week, Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) passed Assembly Bill 14, known as the Internet for All Act of 2021, with a 62-7 vote on the Assembly Floor. AB 14 revolutionizes the State’s broadband deployment program under the California Advanced Services Program, and provides new and increased funding to bring California into the technological 21st Century.

WINTERS — Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry is one of three legislators who have been recognized with the Distinguished Legislative Leadership Award by the League of California Cities.

On Wednesday, Assembly Bill 535 passed the State Assembly by a vote of 70-0.

The bill, authored by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters), establishes clear guidelines for how companies from the olive oil industry can use the term “California.”

AB 535 requires companies in their product labeling and marketing to disclose the minimum percentage of California olives on the front of the container in the same font and size as the term “California.”

WINTERS — Gov. Jerry Brown has signed three bills penned by Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, D-Winters, aimed at wildfire recovery.

The bills, Assembly Bill 1772, Assembly Bill 2380 and Assembly Bill 2518, focus on different areas designed to help residents, first responders and develop innovative uses for forestry products, according to a press release.
